Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a premier nationwide initiative designed to engage students in solving some of the most pressing challenges faced in everyday life. Launched to foster a culture of innovation and practical problem-solving, SIH provides a dynamic platform for students to develop and showcase their creative solutions to real-world problems.
By encouraging participants to think critically and innovatively, the hackathon aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. Since its inception, SIH has garnered significant success in promoting out-of-the-box thinking among young minds, particularly engineering students from across India.
The hackathon not only offers students an opportunity to showcase their skills but also encourages collaboration with industry experts, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Team Formation:
- All participants must be from the same college (no inter-college teams).
- Members from different branches within the same institution may form a team.
- Each team must consist of 6 members (including leader) with at least one female member.
- Hardware Edition: Multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged.
- Software Edition: Majority of members must have strong programming skills.
Requirements:
- PPT in prescribed SIH format.
- Initial implementation of the solution preferable.
- Presentation used in internal hackathon will be submitted further.
- Judges may request additional features. Only resubmission of PPT allowed.

An NDLI awareness programme on the negative impact of Artificial Intelligence was organized for all students. The session discussed issues such as overdependence on AI tools, reduced critical thinking, academic dishonesty, data privacy concerns, and ethical challenges. It encouraged students to use AI responsibly, emphasizing the importance of human intelligence, originality, and ethical learning practices in academic and professional life.
A Glaucoma Awareness Programme was successfully conducted under the NDLI initiative for B.Optom and BMLT students, led by Dr. Ayan Shee. The session focused on the causes, symptoms, early detection, and preventive strategies related to glaucoma. It aimed to enhance students’ clinical understanding and emphasized the crucial role of timely screening and professional awareness in preventing irreversible vision loss.
A seminar on “Margin as Method” was organized on 28th August and was attended by students and faculty members. The session was conducted by Mr. Bappaditya Mukherjee, Founding Secretary of Prantakatha, a Kolkata-based organization that has been shaping leadership journeys for over two decades. Through the philosophy of “Margin as Method,” he shared powerful insights on transforming lived struggles into resilience, leadership, and social change. A nationally and internationally recognized gender and rights activist, his work on LGBTQIA+ inclusion and youth empowerment made the session truly wonderful and deeply inspiring.
